NERV never stopped testing Autopilots for the EVAs
They kept on failing one after the other , then one of the technicians got an idea , why build autopilots?
why not just make the current ones auto
they built a prototype and tested it on Rei first, because after she started to develop personality which they didn't like, obedience is always better and key to success
they told Rei it was performance optimizer, trusting them they put the headset on
the vision started to blur at first, then her mind became cloudy, a technician asked her who she was
she tried to answer but all she could off is that her name is 00. Yes that is it, she is unit 00
and her mind is cleared, she is unit 00, an Auto pilot for EVA Unit, she obey NERV commands

When Asuka saw Rei the first time like that she saw no real difference to Rei’s normal Doll like attitude so she didn't mind to also try the new headset.
Now Asuka hears a lot better if you call her "02" then Asuka. NERV is so pleases with the outcome of this project that they even consider to use that new Autopilot on a lot more staff members

Misato suspected something is not right, in the past weeks neither Asuka nor Rei Talked to her, they were performing better that’s for sure, but they were as if they increased their battle performance and lowered the Social performance
She talked to Ritsuko about it, who told her she would look into it, but that wasn’t enough for her, she followed Rei and Asuka to the Changing room, and to her surprise she found technicians holding PDA with wires connected to them, as if they were robots, of course! She should have noticed the headset before!
But before she could tell Ritsuko , she was ambushed from behind , and lost conciseness , when she woke up she found herself wearing a plug suit just like Rei and Asuka but …. Then one of the technicians inserted the headset over her head, and her mind started to blur, one of the technicians asked to identify her, she stood up, saluted and said
"Unit OD, at your command"

Ritsuko sat in the lab checking the latest performance reports , it was as Misato told her , the performance really increased , and it was more than normal for Rei and Asuka , while checking the NERV files she found a file labeled ‘ operation automation ‘ when she tried to access it she found that she didn’t have clearance for it , which was strange since she was the head scientist , before she went to the director to talk about it , a technician enter the lab , and in his haste doesn’t notice Ritsuko , he open a drawer and get a headset , then open his computer logs in and transfers some code to his PDA , then exit the room , Ritsuko noticed that he didn’t log off , she goes to log him off then see that the technician has “ Operation Automation “ file open , she start reading and after she read the results of the first and second experiment she is in shock
In her shock she didn’t notice the Technician returning , he saw her reading the file , he bite his lips and exit the room , in seconds Misato entered the room , Ritsuko didn’t understand why Misato was wearing a plug suit then she noticed the Headset , but it was so late , she was captured , and forced to wear a plug suit
When the headset was inserted on her head, she at first tried to fight it, but it was futile, it started to change how she thought, MAGI needed an extension, an operative on the ground and in the battlefield, for that her emotion were removed, she only thought of logic, After all no longer she was Ritsuko, she was just MAGI-01

Maya was carrying the latest synch reports to the lab  , Dr Ritsuko would be proud of the improvement both Rei and Asuka have achieved in the last week , she was thinking of Ritsuko when suddenly she slammed into someone , her files fell on the ground and she tried to gather them while apologizing to whoever she slammed to , she look up and the person was wearing a plug suit , but it was unlike other plug suits , when her eye reached the face of the person with the plug suit , she was surprised to find out it was Ritsuko
She step back in shock
“D  ...D...D...Dr Ritsuko!”
Ritsuko looks at Maya with cold eyes
“This Unit classification is MAGI-01”
“What happened to you Ritsuko? Who did this to you?”
It went quite for a while, to Maya it seemed that Ritsuko was searching for an answer, then she spoke
“Please follow to get answer to your Query “
And walk toward a lab which Maya never entered before, but she follow Ritsuko anyway and enter this lab
When she enter the lab is empty, only for a table with a headset on it, it looks like the one Ritsuko is wearing
Maya Break the silence
“Dr Ritsuko, why are talking to me in that way? It’s cold, I’m your friend”
Then Ritsuko turned around and with one hand hold Maya
“MAGI-01 recognize you as a threat to the NERV, your threat will be neutralized “
A tear runs down Maya cheeks
“Ritsuko please, I’m your assistant and friend “
Then the hold on her neck is loosen up a bit, not enough for her to slip away from Ritsuko, but at least it’s not chocking her anymore
Then Ritsuko with the other Hand get the headset and put it on Maya head
Maya feel the effect of the headset, it is changing her for sure, but to what?, her mind is flooded with information data and Commands, she is Ritsuko assistant, wait no, she is MAGI-01 assistant, so that would make her MAGI-02, yes she would stay with Unit MAGI-01 forever helping her in upgrading EVA units and obeying NERV commands, she is part of MAGI now
After some time
Two Woman wearing Plug suits enter MAGI room; they both connect to it with a tail in their back the first woman says
“MAGI-01 Operational and reporting for Duty”
And the other says
“MAGI-02 Operational and reporting for Duty”
